‘‘Boilers’’ is an ongoing series of objects made by combining reclaimed copper with traditional glassblowing. The copper comes from old heating systems — boilers, kettles, pipes, and other parts — collected from a metal yard. The final objects depend on what materials are found and how the glass reacts during making. Because of this, each piece is unique and made at a slow pace. The series includes a range of works, from lamp-like forms with an almost alien character to simpler vases and sculptural pieces. Together, they highlight traditional craftsmanship, an appreciation of imperfection, and the meeting of organic and industrial elements.
